The airports in Aena’s network handled over 17.7 million passengers in November, a 6.9% increase

The airports in Aena’s network handled over 17.7 million passengers in November, 6.9% more than in the same month in 2017.

17,718,841 passengers went through the airports in the network in November. 11,447,233 of them were on international flights, 6.7% more than in the same period in 2017, and 6,207,903 on domestic flights, up by 7.3%.

Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport had the highest number of passengers in the network at 4,537,521 travellers, which is a 8.3% increase over the same month in 2017. It is followed by Barcelona-El Prat with 3,444,397 (+7.8%) and Gran Canaria with 1,181,514 (-1.3%).

From January to November passenger traffic in the airports in Aena’s network grew by 5.7% up to a total of 246,148,545 travellers.

Movements

As for the number of operations, there were 165,483 aircraft movements in Aena’s airport network in November, 4.8% more than in the same month in the previous year.

The airport with the highest number of operations during this period was Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas with 33,019 flights (+5.9%), followed by Barcelona-El Prat with 23,743 (+1.2%) and Gran Canaria with 11,654 (+0.2%).

In the first eleven months of 2018 the number of operations in the airports in Aena’s network grew by 5.6% up to a total of 2,136,359 movements.

Freight

In November over 92,000 tons of freight were carried which is a 7.2% increase compared to the same period in 2017.

In November the airports with the highest freight traffic were Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas with 46,911 tons (+8.0%), Zaragoza with 16,448 tons (+13.2%) and Barcelona-El Prat with 15,112 tons (+4.5%).

From January to November, airports in Aena’s network as a whole handled 927,356 tons of freight, up by 10.2% over the same months in 2017.
