SESAR WAVE 2

A European Community air transport project entrusted with the development and implementation of the future common air traffic control system. It aims to implement a high-performance European ATM network stemming from the need to create an integrated vision of the evolution of the European traffic control system.

SESAR DEPLOYMENT

Aena participates in synchronising the implementation and deployment of SESAR projects at airports.

The SESAR Programme deployment phase began in December 2014 when the European Commission appointed the consortium formed by members of the A6 and airline and airport associations, SESAR Deployment Alliance (SDA), as SESAR Deployment Manager (SDM).

Under the SESAR Deployment Programme, two projects are currently underway: ACADIA (Acceleration of Aeronautical Digital Information Availability) and BEACON.

OPERA

Boosting safe, sustainable and automated UAM through the development and testing of 3 vehicles in real environments, accelerating their implementation thanks to the participation of various actors and considering regulatory and social aspects.

Consortium of 12 organisations from the airport, air navigation and VTOL sectors. The project started in April 2023 and has a duration of 36 months.

EUREKA

Landing, take-off and management process at air taxi landing sites, developing standards and solutions to accelerate the take-off of urban air mobility in Europe. Four SESAR solutions are developed in TRL 7, these solutions are essential elements of a process necessary for the integration of airspace port operations.

Consortium of 20 organisations from the airport, air navigation and VTOL sectors. The project started in June 2023 and has a duration of 36 months.

ATMOSPHER

ATMOSPHER (Grant Agreement No. 101287639). ATM OPERATIONS ON SERVICE PLATFORM FOR HARMONISED INTEROPERABILITY. The project will promote a more digital, automated and interoperable approach to air traffic management based on dynamic airspace management, trajectory-based operations and advanced coordination between civil and military stakeholders. Its aim is to increase the capacity, safety and sustainability of the European ATM system by optimising the use of airspace and reducing environmental impact.

PARADISE

PARADISE (Grant Agreement No. 101287174) is an industrial research project funded by the European Union through the SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking. PARADISE (Precise and Automated Runway and Airport Decision-making for Intelligent and Safe Execution) is a project aimed at developing a next-generation ATS platform to improve the safety, efficiency and scalability of airport operations. The initiative is structured around four main solutions: Dynamic calibration of airport capacity, Optimisation of runway throughput, Intelligent surface management, Prediction and optimisation in adverse weather. The project incorporates two elements common to all solutions: secure data exchange that guarantees cybersecurity and a new service delivery model that ensures interoperability between systems.

VERTI-GO

VERTI-GO (Grant Agreement No. 101287356) is an industrial research project funded by the European Union through the SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking, with an EU contribution of 4.99 million euros out of a total budget of 6.77 million euros. Part of the strategic framework of U-space and urban air mobility, the initiative will run from June 2026 to May 2029 with the aim of promoting the safe integration of electric air taxis and cargo drones into European airspace. The consortium comprises 12 European partners and envisages simulations and operational demonstrations at various locations across Europe, including Spain.
