The airports of the Aena Group (comprising the 46 airports and two heliports in Spain, London Luton Airport and 17 airports in Brazil) closed the fourth month of 2025 with 32,342,698 passengers, 6.2% more than in the same month of 2024; they handled 274,866 aircraft movements, 0.9% more than in 2024; and they transported 119,766 tonnes of freight, 6.8% more than last year.
In cumulative terms, in the first four months of 2025, 110,654,971 passengers passed through Aena Group airports (5.3% more than in 2024); 970,147 aircraft movements were recorded (+3.1%); and 466,673 tonnes of freight were transported, 6.2% more than in the same period of 2024.
Aena Airports in Spain
The airports of the Aena network in Spain closed April with 27,276,507 passengers, 6.3% more than in the same month of 2024; they handled 227,187 aircraft movements, 2.7% more than in 2024; and they transported 107,251 tonnes of freight, up 6.1% on last year. It should be noted that, in 2025, Easter Week was celebrated in April, unlike last year, when it was in March.
Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport recorded the highest number of passengers in April with 5,594,457, growth of 3.8% compared with the same month last year. It is followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, with 4,903,849 (+6.6% compared with 2024); Palma de Mallorca, with 3,010,158 (+7.2%); Málaga-Costa del Sol, with 2,387,538 (+10.4%); Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, with 1,732,423 (+8.9%); Gran Canaria, with 1,348,463 (+12.3%); Tenerife Sur, with 1,157,851 (+5.4%); and Valencia, with 1,039,789 passengers, an increase of 10% on April 2024.
During the last month, the number of passengers at Vitoria Airport has broken all-time records. In addition, a record number of passengers was reached in a month of April at 22 infrastructures: Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, Palma de Mallorca, Málaga-Costa Del Sol, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, Gran Canaria, Tenerife Sur, Valencia, Sevilla, César Manrique-Lanzarote, Bilbao, Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna, Fuerteventura, Menorca, La Palma, Melilla, Vitoria, El Hierro, La Gomera, Badajoz, Son Bonet and at the Ceuta Heliport.
In terms of operations, the airport with the most movements in April was Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, with a total of 35,133 (+1.2% compared with 2024), followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, with 30,839 flights (+3.4%); Palma de Mallorca, with 22,552 (+5.3%); Málaga-Costa del Sol, with 16,569 (+9%); Gran Canaria, with 12,098 (+6.1%) and Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, with 10,890 landings and take-offs (+7.8%).
In the fourth month of 2025, a record number of operations in a month of April was recorded at 16 infrastructures: Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, Palma de Mallorca, Málaga-Costa Del Sol, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, Gran Canaria, Tenerife Sur, César Manrique-Lanzarote, Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna, Fuerteventura, Menorca, La Palma, Federico García Lorca Granada- Jaén, El Hierro, Logroño Son Bonet and at the Ceuta Heliport.
With regard to freight traffic, in the fourth month of 2025, the airport with the highest freight volume was Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, with 65,608 tonnes, 10.7% more than in the same month of 2024, making it the month of April with the most commercial freight traffic in the history of the Madrid infrastructure. It is followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, which recorded 15,730 tonnes (+5.8%), which also made it the month of April with the highest freight traffic at the Catalan airport facility. In third place is Zaragoza Airport, with 13,807 tonnes (-1%), and in fourth, Vitoria Airport with 5,529 tonnes (-9.6%).
In the first four months of 2025, 90,891,745 passengers passed through Aena airports in Spain (5.2% more than in 2024); 782,712 aircraft movements were recorded (+5%) and 416,321 tonnes of freight were transported, 5.6% more than in the same period of 2024.
Aena Brasil Airports
The 17 airports of Aena Brasil reached 3,558,014 passengers in April, 5.7% more than in the same month of 2024. 36,259 aircraft movements were carried out, a decrease of 9.4% compared with the same month in 2024, and 10,070 tonnes of freight were transported, up 16.5% compared with the same month last year.
The group of six ANB airports (1) closed the month of April with 1,267,090 passengers (+11.8%). Recife Airport reached 755,889 passengers (+6.3%). There were 11,805 flights (-4.6%), of which Recife managed 6,706 (-8.7%). And 5,290 tonnes of freight were moved (+10.4%), of which 4,394 tonnes corresponded to Recife Airport (+10.8%).
The BOAB group of eleven airports (2) recorded 2,290,924 passengers in April (+2.6% over the same month in 2024). Among them, Congonhas Airport stands out with 1,934,485 passengers (+3.2%). A total of 24,454 flights were handled (-11.5%), of which 17,433 (-15.1%) were at São Paulo airport. And 4,780 tonnes of freight were transported (+24.2%). At Congonhas Airport in São Paulo, 4,182 tonnes were handled, 32.7% more than in the same month of the previous year.
Up to April 2025, 14,633,226 passengers (+5.4%) have passed through Aena airports in Brazil; 147,188 aircraft movements were recorded (-5.6%); and 40,783 tonnes of freight were transported, 16% more than in the same period in 2024.
London Luton Airport
During the month of April, 1,508,177 passengers (3) passed through London Luton Airport's London facilities, 6% more than in the same month in 2024. 11,420 aircraft movements were carried out (+2.4%) and 2,445 tonnes of freight (4) were transported, 1.2% more than in 2024.
During the first four months of 2025, 5,130,000 passengers (3) were recorded (+6.9%), 40,247 aircraft movements were handled (+3.3%) and 9,570 tonnes of freight (4) were transported (-2.1%).
