  • Santiago de Compostela is the administrative capital of Galicia, an Autonomous region with significant economic development and outstanding tourist, cultural and heritage attractions. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the city has a remarkable historic-artistic heritage, intense cultural activity and a renowned gastronomic offer, factors that reinforce its attractiveness as a year-round city destination. Santiago de Compostela is one of the main institutional, university and service hubs in the northwest of the peninsula, generating significant air demand for both professional and tourist travel. It is an international reference destination thanks to the Way of St. James, one of the main cultural routes in Europe, which attracts visitors and pilgrims from many countries every year.
  • The area of influence of Santiago-Rosalia de Castro Airport covers large areas of inland and northern Galicia, including a large part of the provinces of A Coruña, Lugo and Pontevedra, reaching a significant population and a diversified economic sector. The presence of public institutions, university and research centres, leading health services and a growing advanced services sector, which sustain a constant demand for business, administration and training travel, stand out in this area.
  • From a tourist perspective, the airport is the main air gateway to inland Galicia and highly attractive destinations such as the Costa da Morte, Rías Baixas, Ribeira Sacra and various historic Galician cities. The combination of cultural tourism, nature, gastronomy and events contributes to diversified demand with less seasonality than in other holiday destinations.
  • Santiago-Rosalía de Castro Airport has modern infrastructures, sufficient capacity to handle the rise in traffic and high standards of quality and safety. These conditions allow airlines to run their operations efficiently. Aena provides airlines with commercial support tools, fare simulators and the support of its Airport Marketing team to make it easier to analyse, open and consolidate new routes.
