Albacete Airport is located to the south of the capital, in the area known as Los Llanos, within the Albacete city limits. It is an air base open to civil traffic.

In November 2005, it was extended to include a 2,200-square metre passenger terminal, a multi-service building, a car park, a new access road and internal roads, modern facilities that enable the airport to respond safely to increased air traffic demand and provide high quality services. Albacete Airport began operating in June 2003, when a provisional passenger area came into operation.
