Special baggage

Special baggage

  • If your baggage is larger or heavier than normal or has a special shape, it may be considered special baggage. Bicycles, golf bags and large musical instruments are examples of special baggage. Any baggage larger than 1.2 m or weighing more than 50 kg is considered to be special.
  • This type of baggage cannot be processed by the airport’s automated system and must be processed separately. If you want to check it in as hold luggage, you will have to do so at the special desk indicated by your airline and reclaim it at the specific carousels at the arrival airport. Your airline may also give you the option of sending it in the cargo hold as goods.
  • This type of luggage should always be correctly packaged to ensure that it does not cause any damage or problems during its transport. Bicycles, for example, should be packaged in boxes specifically designed for their transport, with the handlebars folded in, the tyres deflated and the pedals removed.
  • If you are intending to travel with special baggage, please inform your airline as soon as possible to find out the cost and service conditions.
