Spanish visas

Personal documentation

  • In addition to travel documentation, many countries require a visa.
  • Check whether this is applicable to you by selecting your destination country in the Travel Recommendations section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation website.
  • To obtain the visa, contact the consulate or consular department of the embassy of the destination country accredited in Spain.
  • If you need help managing your visa, Aena has an agreement with a documentation management company. This company offers discounts to Aena Market users. You can access this benefit at Aena Travel.
Take into account:
  • Processing the visa may require additional documentation and the concession period is set by the country.
  • It is therefore advisable to start the process sufficient time in advance.
  • Even when you have all the documentation, including the visa, in order, entering a foreign country is not a right and it is possible you may be denied access.
  • From 2 April 2025 you must have an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to enter the UK. More information here.

Airport transit visa

  • Foreigners are in airport transit when they are authorised to remain in the international transit area of a Spanish airport without entering national territory during flight layovers or connections.
  • For further information about airport transit visas visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation website.
