Personal documentation

In addition to travel documentation, many countries require a visa.
Check whether this is applicable to you by selecting your destination country in the Travel Recommendations section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation website.
To obtain the visa, contact the consulate or consular department of the embassy of the destination country accredited in Spain.

Take into account:

Processing the visa may require additional documentation and the concession period is set by the country.
It is therefore advisable to start the process sufficient time in advance.
Even when you have all the documentation, including the visa, in order, entering a foreign country is not a right and it is possible you may be denied access.
From 2 April 2025 you must have an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to enter the UK. More information here.

Airport transit visa

Foreigners are in airport transit when they are authorised to remain in the international transit area of a Spanish airport without entering national territory during flight layovers or connections.
