The airports in Aena’s network handled over 28.4 million passengers in July, 3.2% more than in the same month in 2017.
28,447,609 passengers went through the airports in Aena’s network in July. 20,467,436 of them were on international flights, 1.5% more than in the same period in 2017, and 7,906,930 on domestic flights, up by 7.9%.
Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport had the highest number of passengers last month at 5,532,261, which is an 8.7% increase over July 2017. It is followed by Barcelona-El Prat with 5,166,315 (+2.5%) and Palma de Mallorca with 4,234,736 (+1.9%).
From January to July, passenger traffic in the airports in Aena’s network grew by 6.1% up to a total of 149,515,635 travellers.
Operations
As for the number of operations, there were 236,803 aircraft movements across the network in July, 4.3% more than in the same month in the previous year.
The airport with the highest number of operations during this period was Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas with 37,091 flights (+5.7%), followed by Barcelona-El Prat with 32,593 (+1.4%) and Palma de Mallorca with 29,837 (+3%).
In the first seven months of the year the number of operations at the airports in Aena’s network grew by 5.8% up to a total of 1,310,515 movements.
Freight
In July 84,087 tons of freight were carried, which is a 10.5% increase compared with the same period in 2017.
In July the four airports with the highest freight traffic were Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas with 42,734 tons (+7.9%), Barcelona-El Prat with 15,476 tons (+12.9%), Zaragoza with 12,450 tons (+23.6%) and Vitoria with 5,385 tons (+0.1%).
From January to July airports in Aena’s network as a whole handled 565,759 tons of freight, up by 12.9% over the same months in 2017.
