The airports in Aena’s network handled over 24.3 million passengers in October, 6.5% more than in the same month in 2017.
24,326,523 passengers went through the airports in the network in October. 17,190,119 of them were on international flights, 5.1% more than in the same period in 2017, and 7,069,546 on domestic flights, up by 10.2%.
Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport had the highest number of passengers in the network at 5,188,971 travellers, which is a 9.8% increase over the same month in 2017. It is followed by Barcelona-El Prat with 4,542,389 (+8.8%) and Palma de Mallorca with 2,987,793 (+3.8%).
From January to October passenger traffic in the airports in Aena’s network grew by 5.6% up to a total of 228,429,704 travellers.
Operations
As for the number of operations, there were 208,355 aircraft movements in Aena’s airport network in October, 5.3% more than in the same month in the previous year.
The airport with the highest number of operations during this period was Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas with 36,536 flights (+7.9%), followed by Barcelona-El Prat with 30,616 (+4.7%) and Palma de Mallorca with 22,640 (+6.8%).
In the first ten months of 2018 the number of operations in the airports in Aena’s network grew by 5.7% up to a total of 1,970,876 movements.
Freight
In October almost 100,104 tons of freight were carried which is a 8.8% increase compared to the same period in 2017.
The airports with the highest freight traffic in October were Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas with nearly 48,859 tons (+5.8%), Zaragoza with 19,541 tons (+13.8%) and Barcelona-El Prat with 17,780 tons (+14.6%).
From January to October, airports in Aena’s network as a whole handled 835,330 tons of freight, up by 10.7% over the same months in 2017.
