The Council of Ministers, at its meeting of 28 September 2021, approved the Airport Regulation Document (DORA) for 2022-2026.
Aena's chairman and CEO, Maurici Lucena, is of the opinion that "this DORA provides stability and will be the driving force needed to ensure an environmentally sustainable and quality recovery in the aviation and tourism sectors".Lucena also notes that Aena's charges will remain the most competitive in Europe, which will allow the airport facilities in its network to remain the most efficient among their peers. The Chairman and CEO also believes that the approval of the DORA paves the way for a period of certainty in the wake of COVID-19.
Pending an analysis of the details contained in the document, Lucena stated that "the main challenge for the sector over the next five years will be to restore air traffic to pre-pandemic levels and work together with airlines to achieve this common goal".
