The airports of the Aena Group (comprising the 46 airports and two heliports in Spain, London Luton Airport and 17 airports in Brazil) closed the month of February 2026 with 25,434,678 passengers, 3.7% more than in the same month in 2025; they handled 218,751 aircraft movements, 1.9% more than in 2025; and transported 119,929 tonnes of freight, 7.3% more than in the same month of last year.
In cumulative terms up to February 2026, 51,264,837 passengers passed through Aena Group airports (3.5% more than in 2025); 439,945 aircraft movements were recorded (-1.3%); and 235,805 tonnes of freight were transported, 7.2% more than in the same period of 2025.
Aena Airports in Spain
The airports of the Aena network in Spain have closed February with 20,555,745 passengers, 2.8% more than in the same month in 2025. This implies, however, growth of less than the 4% recorded between February 2025 and February 2024 (taking into account that the latter year was a leap year).
Of this percentage, 0.5% (around 108,000 persons) corresponds to the increase in passengers who used the Aena network after the rail accident on 18 January, especially the routes between Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport and Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport and between Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport and Seville; as well as between Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport and Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport due to technical issues in the high-speed train service.
In addition, 175,332 aircraft movements were handled in February, 1.9% less than in February 2025; when they grew by 6.9% between February 2025 and February 2024.
On the other hand, 108,238 tonnes of freight were transported, 9.1% more than in February last year.
At 5,077,072 passengers, Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport recorded the highest number of passengers in February, representing growth of 5.3% compared to this month last year. It was followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, with 3,895,934 (+3.8% compared to 2025); Málaga-Costa del Sol, with 1,575,859 (+3.5%); Gran Canaria, with 1,354,603 (+1.6%); Tenerife Sur, with 1,258,924 (+1.1%); Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, with 1,229,093 (+5.3%) and Palma de Mallorca, with 1,024,342 passengers, an increase of 3.1% on February 2025.
A record number of passengers was recorded in a month of February in the Aena network as a whole and in 18 airports: Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, Málaga-Costa del Sol, Gran Canaria, Tenerife Sur, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, Valencia, Seville, César Manrique-Lanzarote, Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna, Bilbao, Asturias, La Palma, El Hierro, Vitoria, Badajoz, Córdoba and Son Bonet.
In terms of operations, the airport with the most movements in February was Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, with a total of 32,735 (+3.9% compared to 2025), followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, with 24,474 flights (+0.2%); Gran Canaria, with 11,617 (+0.6%); Málaga-Costa del Sol, with 11,144 (+1.9%); Palma de Mallorca, with 8,829 (-4.2%); Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, with 8,002 (+5.6%) and Tenerife Sur, with 7,940 landings and take-offs (-2.5%).
February 2026 was the busiest February ever for 8 airports: Malaga-Costa del Sol, Gran Canaria, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, Seville, Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna, La Palma, Región de Murcia International Airport and Son Bonet.
With regard to freight traffic, the airport that recorded the highest freight volume was Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, with 65,279 tonnes, 6.5% more than in the same month of 2025, which means it was the month of February with the highest freight traffic in its history. It is followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, which recorded 17,746 tonnes (+24%) and a record month; Zaragoza Airport, with 13,335 tonnes (+9.1%); and Vitoria, with 5,582 tonnes (+4.5%).
In the first two months of 2026, 40,871,452 passengers have passed through Aena airports in Spain (2.7% more than in 2025); 348,763 aircraft movements were recorded (-1.3%) and 211,731 tonnes of freight were transported, 8.6% more than in the same period of 2025.
Aena Brasil Airports
The 17 airports of Aena Brasil reached 3,670,923 passengers in February, 8.9% more than in the same month of 2025. 34,260 aircraft movements were carried out, a decrease of 2.2% compared with the same month in 2025, and 10,531 tonnes of freight were transported, up 2.4% compared with the same month last year.
The group of six ANB airports(1) closed the month of February with 1,452,669 passengers (+16.2%). Among them, Recife Airport stands out with 860,770 passengers (+14.4%). There were 12,673 flights (+9.3%), of which Recife managed 7,001 (+3.7%). And 5,905 tonnes of freight were moved (+7.7%), of which 4,506 tonnes corresponded to Recife Airport (-1.4%).
The BOAB group of eleven airports(2) recorded 2,218,254 passengers in February (+4.6% over the same month of 2025). Among them, Congonhas Airport stands out with 1,910,436 passengers (+5.8%). A total of 21,587 flights were handled (-7.8%), of which 16,327 (-4.6%) were at São Paulo airport. And 4,626 tonnes of freight were transported (-3.6%). At Congonhas Airport in São Paulo, 4,029 tonnes were handled, 3.1% less than in the same month of the previous year.
Between January and February 2026, 8,012,447 passengers passed through Aena airports in Brazil (+7.7%); 72,818 aircraft movements were recorded (-1.7%); and 21,978 tonnes of freight were transported, 8.1% more than in the same period of 2025.
London Luton Airport
During the month of February, 1,208,010 passengers(3) passed through London Luton Airport's London facilities, 3% more than in the same month of 2025. 9,159 aircraft movements were handled (-1.5%) and 1,160 tonnes of freight(4) were transported, 50.4% less than in 2025.
Up to the second month of 2026, 2,380,938 passengers(3) were recorded (+3.5%), 18,364 aircraft movements were handled (-0.6%) and 2,095 tonnes of freight(4) were transported (-54.7%). The decrease in freight traffic is due to the night-time closure of the runway for resurfacing works.
Aena Brasil Network
(1) ANB - Aeroportos do Nordeste do Brasil -, which manages the airports of Recife-PE, Maceió-AL, Aracaju-SE, João Pessoa-PB, Juazeiro do Norte-CE and Campina Grande-PB, recorded 16,833,758 passengers in 2025.
(2) BOAB - Bloco dos Onze Aeroporto do Brasil -, which manages the airports of Congonhas-SP, Campo Grande-MS, Corumbá-MS, Ponta Porã-MS, Santarém-PA, Marabá-PA, Carajás-PA, Altamira-PA, Uberlândia-MG, Montes Claros-MG and Uberaba-MG, recorded 28,853,683 passengers in 2025.
