Aena Group airports exceed 384.8 million passengers in 2025

The airports of the Aena Group (comprising the 46 airports and two heliports in Spain, London Luton Airport and 17 airports in Brazil) closed 2025 with record passenger numbers of 384,837,183, 4.2% more than in 2024; they carried out 3,279,864 aircraft movements, 2.4% more than in 2024; and transported 1,533,901 tonnes of cargo, 7.9% more than last year. 

In December, 27,929,791 passengers have passed through Aena Group airports (3.7% more than in December 2024); 240,756 aircraft movements were recorded (+0.6%); and 137,236 tonnes of freight were transported, 10.1% more than in the same period in 2024. 

Aena Airports in Spain

The airports of the Aena network in Spain have closed 2025 with 321,587,316 passengers, 3.9% more than in 2024; they have handled 2,696,414 aircraft movements, 4.1% more than in 2024; and they have transported 1,372,394 tonnes of freight, up 7.2% on the previous year. 

Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport recorded the highest number of passengers in 2025 at 68,179,054, an increase of 3% on 2024. It is followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, with 57,483,036 (+4.4% compared to 2024); Palma de Mallorca, with 33,806,427 (+1.5%); Málaga-Costa del Sol, with 26,760,549 (+7.4%); Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, with 19,950,394 (+8.5%); Gran Canaria, with 15,826,553 (+4%); Tenerife Sur, with 13,969,678 (+1.7%); and Valencia, with 11,847,527 passengers, an increase of 9.6% on 2024.

2025 saw an all-time high in passenger numbers in the Aena network as a whole and in 23 airports: Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, Palma de Mallorca, Málaga-Costa del Sol, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, Gran Canaria, Tenerife Sur, Valencia, Seville, Ibiza, César Manrique-Lanzarote, Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna, Bilbao, Fuerteventura, Menorca, Asturias, La Palma, Melilla, La Gomera, Badajoz, Córdoba, Son Bonet and the heliport of Ceuta.

In terms of operations, the airport with the most movements in 2025 was Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, with a total of 430,616 (+2.5% compared to 2024), followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, with 360,786 flights (+3.7%); Palma de Mallorca, with 246,486 (+1.4%); Málaga-Costa del Sol, with 186,990 (+6.9%); Gran Canaria, with 142,884 (+1.7%) and Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, with 126,081 landings and take-offs (+8.4%). 

2025 was the year with the most operations in the entire Aena network in Spain and in 19 airports: Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, Palma de Mallorca, Málaga-Costa del Sol, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, Gran Canaria, Tenerife Sur, Seville, Ibiza, César Manrique-Lanzarote, Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna, Fuerteventura, Menorca, La Palma, Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén, Melilla, El Hierro, La Gomera, Logroño and Son Bonet.

2025 also saw a record amount of freight transported on the Aena network. The airport that handled the highest volume of freight was Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, with 840,331 tonnes, 9.6% more than in 2024. This was the year with the highest total commercial cargo traffic in the history of the Madrid airport, as well as the Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport with 200,741 tonnes (+10.5%), also an all-time cargo record. They are followed by Zaragoza Airport, with 182,886 tonnes (+0.8%), and Vitoria Airport with 69,035 tonnes (-2.1%).

In December 2025, 22,445,321 passengers passed through Aena airports in Spain (3.4% more than in the same month in 2024); 191,763 aircraft movements were carried out (+1.5%); and 123,153 tonnes of freight were transported, 10.9% more than in December 2024.

Aena is in the final stages of defining the investment plans required by Spain’s airports over the coming years, with the objective of ensuring, as it has consistently done, the necessary capacity to guarantee optimal operations. The record traffic levels achieved in recent years clearly underscore this need and anticipate the scenario that will unfold in the coming years, where infrastructure must adapt to available capacity and accommodate ambitious expansion and modernization projects.

Aena Brasil Airports

The 17 airports of Aena Brasil reached 45,687,441 passengers in 2025, 5.3% more than in 2024. 448,681 aircraft movements were carried out, a decrease of 6.7% compared to the previous year, and 133,972 tonnes of freight were transported, up 20.9% compared to the previous year.

The group of six ANB airports(1) closed 2025 with 16,833,758 passengers (+5.7%). Recife Airport reached 9,938,051 passengers (+3.6%). There were 151,703 flights (-4.3%), of which Recife managed 84,350 (-7.6%). And 70,878 tonnes of freight were handled (+20.5%), of which 55,780 tonnes corresponded to Recife Airport (+15.8%).

The BOAB (2) group of eleven airports recorded 28,853,683 passengers in 2025 (+5.1% compared to 2024), 296,978 flights were operated (-7.9%) and 63,095 tonnes of freight were transported (+21.3%). Of these eleven airports, Congonhas Airport in São Paulo stands out with 24,491,178 passengers (+5.9%), 214,951 flights handled (-8.4%) and 55,230 tonnes of freight, 29.7% more than in the previous year.

In December 2025, 4,139,756 passengers passed through Aena airports in Brazil (+5.1% compared to December 2024); 38,559 operations were recorded (-4.4%); and 12,911 tonnes of freight were transported, 12% more than in the same month in 2024.

London Luton Airport

Over the course of 2025, 17,562,426 passengers (3) were recorded at London Luton Airport, 4.9% more than in 2024. 134,769 aircraft movements were carried out (+2.1%) and 27,534 tonnes of freight(4) were transported, 10.2% less than in the previous year.

In December 2025, 1,344,714 passengers (3) were recorded (+4.8%), 10,434 aircraft movements were carried out (+2.3%) and 1,172 tonnes of freight (4) were transported (-43.3%).
