Connecting flights

Flight connections can be made at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport. Here you can find useful information for preparing your transit through the airport.

 

Before flying

Please take note of the following information in mind before starting your journey:

Arrivals and departures area

Check the terminals where each airline operates. You can find information on which airlines are in which terminal here.

If you need to check whether the country from which you are flying or to which you are going is in the Schengen area, you can find up-to-date information here.

Documentation and time between flights

If you have to change terminal during the connection, remember that you will have to leave the international transit zone and access Spanish territory. Check that you have all the necessary documentation before starting your journey. You can find all the necessary information here.

Make sure you will have enough time to get from one flight to the other and to carry out all the documentary formalities and checks necessary during the journey.

Free transport between terminals

The airport has a free transport service between terminals connecting T1 and T2. Check information on the timetable and route here.

During your transit through the airport

When you arrive at the airport, check the flight information screens to see from which boarding zone your departing flight leaves and follow the relevant signs. You can also find up-to-date information here.

From Terminal T1 to Terminal T1

If your departing flight operates from Terminal T1 and you do not have to collect your luggage or check in at the check-in desks, follow the route for your flight combination. You must have your boarding card for the departing flight. In some cases, you will have to go through security control for connections beforehand.

  • From Schengen area to T1 Schengen area (Gates A, B and C): go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.
  • From Schengen area to T1 non-Schengen area (Gates D and E): follow the signs to "Connecting Flights" - "Passport Control" – "Gates D – E" > after going through passport control, go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.
  • From non-Schengen area to T1 Schengen area (Gates A, B and C): follow the signs to "Connecting Flights" > after going through security control and passport control, go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.
  • From non-Schengen area to T1 non-Schengen area (Gates D and E): follow the signs to "Connecting Flights" > after going through security control and passport control, go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.

Using this link, you can find the location of security control for connecting passengers arriving at T1 from outside the Schengen area.

If your departing flight operates from Terminal T1 and you have to collect your luggage and/or check in at the check-in desks, follow the route for your flight combination:

  • From Schengen Area – T1: follow the signs to "Baggage Reclaim" - "Exit" > collect your luggage from the conveyor belt shown on the information screens > follow the signs to "Exit" and then to "Check-in" - "Departures" > get your boarding card and check in your luggage, if necessary > go through "Security Control" > after going through, go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.
  • From non-Schengen arrivals- T1: follow the signs to "Passport Control" > after passing through, go to "Baggage Reclaim" - "Exit" > collect your luggage from the conveyor belt shown on the information screens > follow the signs to "Exit" and then to "Check-in" - "Departures" > get your boarding card and check in your luggage, if necessary > go through "Security Control" > after passing through, go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.

From Terminal T1 to Terminal T2

If you arrive at Terminal T1 and your departing flight operates from Terminal T2, follow the route for your flight combination:

  • From Schengen area - T1: follow the signs to "Baggage Reclaim" - "Exit" > collect your luggage from the conveyor belt shown on the information screens > follow the signs to "Exit" and then to "Free Bus Shuttle" > take the shuttle to Terminal T2 and get off at the first stop – T2B. If you have to check in at the Easyjet desks, get off at the second stop – T2C > go to "Check-in", get your boarding card and check in your luggage, if necessary > go to "Security Control" > after going through, go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.
  • From non-Schengen arrivals - T1: follow the signs to "Passport Control" > after going through, go to "Baggage Reclaim" - "Exit" > collect your luggage from the conveyor belt shown on the information screens > follow the signs to "Exit" and then to "Free Bus Shuttle" > take the shuttle to Terminal T2 and get off at the first stop – T2B. If you have to check in at the Easyjet desks, get off at the second stop – T2C > go to "Check-in", get your boarding card and check in your luggage, if necessary > go to "Security Control" > after going through, go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.

From Terminal T2 to Terminal T2

If your departing flight operates from Terminal T2 and you do not have to collect your luggage or check in at the check-in desks, follow the route for your flight combination. You must have your boarding card for the departing flight. In some cases, you will have to go through security control for connections beforehand.

  • From Schengen area to T2 Schengen area (Gates R, S and U): go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.
  • From Schengen area to T2 non-Schengen area (Gates W and Y): follow the signs to "Connecting Flights" - "Passport Control" – "Gates W - Y " > after going through passport control, go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.
  • From Schengen area to T2 non-Schengen area (Gates M): follow the signs to "Connecting Flights" - "Passport Control" – "Gates M" > after going through passport control, go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.
  • From non-Schengen area (T2A) to T2 Schengen area (Gates R, S and U): follow the signs to "Connecting Flights" > after going through security control and passport control, an agent will accompany you to the Schengen area > go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.
  • From non-Schengen area (T2A) to T2 non-Schengen area (Gates W and Y): follow the signs to "Connecting Flights" > after going through security control and passport control, go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.
  • From non-Schengen area (T2A) to T2 non-Schengen area (Gates M): follow the signs to "Connecting Flights" > after going through security control and passport control, an agent will accompany you to the Schengen area > follow the signs to "Gates M" > after going through passport control, go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.
  • From non-Schengen area (T2C) to all areas: follow the signs to "Passport Control" - "Exit" > after passing through, continue to "Exit" > continue to "Security Control" > after going through, go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.

If your departing flight operates from Terminal T2 and you have to collect your luggage and/or check in at the check-in desks, follow the route for your flight combination:

  • From Schengen area – T2 (passengers arriving on all airlines except Easyjet): follow the signs to "Baggage Reclaim B" - "Exit" > collect your luggage from the conveyor belt shown on the information screens > follow the signs to "Exit" and then to "Check-in" - "Departures". If your flight is with Easyjet, you will have to leave the building and go to Terminal T2C externally > get your boarding card and check in your luggage, if necessary > go to "Security Control" > after passing through, go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.
  • From Schengen area – T2 (passengers arriving with Easyjet): follow the signs to "Baggage Reclaim C" - "Exit" > collect your luggage from the conveyor belt shown on the information screens > If your departing flight is with Easyjet, follow the signs to "Exit" and then to "Security Control". If your departing flight is with any other company, leave the building and go to terminal T2B externally > get your boarding card and check in your luggage, if necessary > go to "Security Control" > after going through, go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.
  • From non-Schengen arrivals – T2A (passengers arriving with all airlines except Easyjet): follow the signs to "Baggage Reclaim A" - "Passport Control" - "Exit" > after going through passport control, continue to "Baggage Reclaim A" - "Exit" > collect your luggage from the conveyor belt shown on the information screens > follow the signs to "Exit" > go to T2B via the exterior of the building. If your departing flight is with Easyjet, continue to Terminal T2C > on entering the building, go to "Check-in" - "Departures", get your boarding card and check in your luggage, if necessary > go to "Security Control" > after going through, go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.
  • From non-Schengen arrivals – T2C (passengers arriving with Easyjet): follow the signs to "Baggage Reclaim" - "Passport Control" - "Exit" > after passing through passport control, continue to "Baggage Reclaim" - "Exit" > collect your luggage from the conveyor belt shown on the information screens > If your departing flight is with Easyjet, follow the signs to "Exit" and then to "Security Control". If your departing flight is with any other company, leave the building and go to terminal T2B externally > get your boarding card and check in your luggage, if necessary > continue to "Security Control" > after going through, go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.

From Terminal T2 to Terminal T1

If you arrive at Terminal T2 and your departing flight operates from Terminal T1, follow the route for your flight combination:

  • From Schengen area – T2 (passengers arriving with all airlines except Easyjet): follow the signs to "Baggage Reclaim B" - "Exit" > collect your luggage from the conveyor belt shown on the information screens > follow the signs to "Exit" and then to "Free Bus Shuttle" > take the shuttle to T1 > on entering the building, go to "Check-in", get your boarding card and check in your luggage, if necessary > go to "Security Control" > after going through, go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.
  • From Schengen area – T2 (passengers arriving with Easyjet): follow the signs to "Baggage Reclaim C" - "Exit" > collect your luggage from the conveyor belt shown on the information screens > follow the signs to "Exit" and then to "Free Bus Shuttle" > take the shuttle to T1 > on entering the building, go to "Check-in", get your boarding card and check in your luggage, if necessary > go to "Security Control" > after going through, go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.
  • From non-Schengen arrivals – T2A (passengers arriving with all airlines except Easyjet): follow the signs to "Baggage Reclaim A" - "Passport Control" - "Exit" > after going through passport control, collect your luggage from the conveyor belt shown on the information screens > follow the signs to "Exit" and then to "Free Bus Shuttle" > take the shuttle to T1 > on entering the building, go to "Check-in", get your boarding card and check in your luggage, if necessary > go to "Security Control" > after going through, go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.
  • From non-Schengen arrivals – T2C (passengers arriving with Easyjet): follow the signs to "Baggage Reclaim" - "Passport Control" - "Exit" > after going through passport control, continue to "Baggage Reclaim" - "Exit" > collect your luggage from the conveyor belt shown on the information screens > follow the signs to "Exit" and then to "Free Bus Shuttle" > take the shuttle to T1 > on entering the building, go to "Check-in", get your boarding card and check in your luggage, if necessary > go to "Security Control" > after going through, go to the boarding gate shown on the flight information screens.
