PERMANENT EXHIBITION

Ibiza: a meeting point since ancient times

Ibiza Airport has opened a space in which it displays reproductions of archaeological finds that reveal the customs and lifestyles of the civilisations that inhabited the territory now occupied by Ibiza Airport more than 2,000 years ago, as well as their relationship with the exploitation of the surrounding area. The archaeological remains have been discovered during the execution of various projects in different areas of the airport.

The structure of the exhibition consists of three showcases with visibility from all four sides. The first display case, entitled journeys, shows the importance of Ibiza as a strategic port, as evidenced by the findings from different parts of the Mediterranean. The second, a triad, displays elements related to the olive tree, the vine and wheat. The third, called spirituality, reflects elements related to the beliefs of the time.

The exhibition is completed with a video on the remains found in the excavations carried out at the airport, so that the viewer is able to grasp the importance of these discoveries and find the link between the present and the past.
