T4 Anniversary Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport

Terminal T4 Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport celebrates 20 years

La Terminal 4 del Aeropuerto Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas cumple 20 años

Terminal T4 at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport celebrates 20 years since its inauguration on 4 February 2006, a milestone that marked a new chapter after more than 70 years of history since the airport opened on 30 April 1931 as the "National Airport of Madrid".

Designed by Antonio Lamela and Richard Rogers, T4 introduced new concepts such as natural light, comfort, warmth, colour, spaciousness and efficiency, placing Madrid among the leading benchmarks for international air transport, especially for connections between Europe and Latin America. Its opening, together with the T4S satellite building, boosted modernisation, operational capacity and passenger experience, and reinforced the economic development of Madrid and Spain, always with a firm commitment to sustainability and the environment.
