ASQ Quality Awards

Murcia-San Javier Airport has been honoured as Best European Airport in the fewer than two million passengers category twice, in 2014 and 2016, at the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) awards, which are granted by the Airports Council International (ACI).

Murcia-San Javier Airport has participated in the ASQ programme since 2013 and is one of the few airports to have received the ACI Award on two separate occasions.

The award is based on the results of the ASQ international programme's survey on passenger perception of quality of service, which is administered by ACI. ASQ surveys are carried out directly with passengers, who respond to questions concerning 34 different aspects, such as access, facilities, friendliness of staff, security, food quality and waiting time at the security checkpoint. In the case of Murcia-San Javier Airport, the aspects that received the highest scores were the ease of travelling through the airport, distances on foot within the terminal, cleanliness and general satisfaction, amongst others.

The ASQ programme is a reference worldwide as the airport industry's global standard to measure passenger satisfaction and is the international leader in terms of comparing performance indicators. It is in place at 320 airports and each year, 600,000 surveys are carried out in 41 languages across 84 countries.
