State Administration Services for customs and health inspections of cargo goods.
Barcelona-El Prat Airport has authorised facilities for customs and health checks of cargo goods, where official checks of documents and identities are carried out, in addition to physical inspections and, in general, all the necessary customs formalities for cargo goods bound for or coming from third countries.
BIS are the State Administration services assigned to controlling and inspecting goods in order to ensure they meet with health, hygiene, quality and safety standards for foreign trade.

Goods customs border checkpoint
Barcelona-El Prat Airport is authorised to act as a:
BIP - Border Inspection Post by the European Commission to inspect live animals, products for animal consumption and products of animal origin both for human consumption and not for human consumption. BICs (Border Inspection Centres) are the facilities where these inspections take place.
There are 3 authorised BICs at Barcelona-El Prat Airport, in accordance with the Commission's Decision of 28 September 2009, managed by 3 operators: Iberia, Swissport and World Wide Flight Services (WFS).
PBIP - Phytosanitary Border Inspection Post authorised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment for checks and inspections to stop the entry or spread of elements harmful to vegetable and animal products.
Ports and airports where the phytosanitary products are checked
ACA - Authorised Customs Area authorised by the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality for the control of products of non-animal origin destined for human use and consumption from third countries.
DEP - Designated Entry Point authorised by the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality for the control of certain products such as animal feed and foodstuffs of non-animal origin requiring more thorough inspection, as established in regulation 669/2009/EC.
