Aena and Vueling have launched a new pilot project at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport for access using facial recognition by registering through the Aena App or via the exclusive facial recognition kiosks at the airport. All you have to do is register once and then this innovative service allows you to check your baggage at the self bag drop, pass through the security checkpoints and board more agile.
How it works
What do I need?
To be flying with Vueling to Málaga from Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport and board through gate B35 in Terminal T1.
To have an electronic ID card or passport and a boarding pass. If you have a DNI 3.0 or e-passport you can register on the Aena App as long as your device is Android and has NFC or an iPhone with iOS13 or higher. If you have a DNI 2.0 you can register with the system at the facial recognition kiosk next to the 501 check-in counter or at the kiosk in front of boarding gate B35 next to the Vueling connection counter.
To be over 18 years old.
Register at the facial recognition kiosk or on the Aena App.
Once registered, you will no longer have to show your documents (ID card or passport and boarding pass) at the subsequent stages (although you will have to have them on you).
2. Make sure you have given your consent to participate in biometric boarding when checking in through the App or on the Vueling website.
If you haven’t done it, you will be able to associate your boarding pass through the Aena App or the enrolment kiosk from 12 hours before your flight.
If you want to check in your baggage, once you have the baggage label from Vueling’s self-check-in machines, you can hand it over at counter 503 by facial recognition.
At the security checkpoint in T1 you will find an exclusive access point.
The camera will verify your identity and you will be able to access directly.
At boarding gate B35 there is a new access system that verifies your identity and enables you to board your plane directly without needing to show any documents. However, bear in mind that you must have with you all the necessary documents.
