Environment Management System

The Valencia AIrport has implemented an Environmental Management System that identifies all aspects that have a significant impact on the environment.

Within Aena's environmental policy, Valencia Airport has assumed a clear commitment to environmental protection. This commitment is reflected in the implementation of a sustainable development strategy that seeks to reconcile aeronautical and airport activities with conserving the environment and its vulnerable elements.

To structure, plan and implement suitable monitoring for this environmental strategy, the airport has put in place and maintains an Environmental Management System, in accordance with the UNE-EN ISO 14001 standard under which it was certified in 2001, with renewal in 2004.

Valencia Airport makes a clear and strong commitment to continuous improvement. All the continuous improvement activities carried out in its facilities are included in the environmental management reports, which compile and analyse the main data of the airport's environmental and sustainability actions.

The strategic lines of the airport's environmental management are the following:

  • Reduction of water, energy and fuel consumption.
  • Environmental information management system.
  • Fauna and flora conservation.
  • Noise pollution control.
  • Spill control and water reuse.
  • Company monitoring and environmental awareness raising.
  • Improvements to waste separation and management.
