Profile of the management team

Maurici Lucena Betriu


Mr. Lucena has a degree in Economic and Business Science (major in Economics) from the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), Barcelona, and a Master’s Degree in Economics and Finance from the Banco de España Centre for Monetary and Financial Studies (CEMFI), Madrid.

Before joining Aena he held various executive positions in both the public and private sectors.

He started his professional career as an economic analysis consultant at Solchaga, Recio & Asociados, where he worked from September 1999 to May 2004.

In the public sector, Mr. Lucena was Director General of the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) from July 2004 to May 2010, and CEO of Ingeniería de Sistemas para la Defensa de España (ISDEFE) from May 2010 to February 2012.

He was Chairman of the European Space Agency (ESA) Council from July 2008 to June 2010.

In the private sector, he has held various roles at Banco Sabadell, from June 2016 to July 2018, including Director of Equity and Prudential Management and Director of Prudential Regulation and Public Policy.

He was also a Member of Parliament of Catalonia and the spokesperson for the Socialist Parliamentary Group from December 2012 to October 2015.

Mr. Lucena was in 2002 an associate professor in the Economics Department at Carlos III University in Madrid. He is the author of En busca de la pócima mágica. Las políticas industriales y de innovación que funcionan…y las que no, a book on industrial policy, published in 2013.

He was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Aena on 16th July 2018.

Javier Marín San Andrés


He holds a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica of Madrid, he also completed a diploma in Economic and Financial Management at the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and attended the Senior Management Programme (PADE) at IESE.

He is currently a member of the Board of the London Luton Aiport Operations Limited Company, of the European Board of ACI (Airport Council International) as well as the Madrid Territorial Council of IESE.

He has held a number of management positions since joining Aena in 1991. From 2004 to 2011, he served as Director of Spanish Airports. From June 2011 to June 2014 he worked as Managing Director of Aena Aeropuertos SA. He was named Managing Director of Aena SA in July 2014. He was also General Manager of Air Navigation, Director of Corporate Development, and General Manager of Aena International, the subsidiary that handles the company's management interests in aeronautical infrastructures outside Spain, of which he is still a Board Member.

He was also Vice-Chairman of the Board of Centros Logísticos Aeroportuarios SA (CLASA) and a Member of the Board of Ingeniería y Economía del Transporte SA (INECO), of the Mexican companies Aeropuertos Mexicanos del Pacífico SA de CV (AMP) and Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico SA de CV (GAP) and of the Colombian companies Aeropuertos del Caribe SA (ACSA), Sociedad Aeroportuaria de la Costa SA (SACSA) and Aerocali SA. He has also been a member of the ACI World Governing Board.

Prior to joining Aena, he worked for the Universidad Politécnica of Madrid, the Spanish Civil Aviation Authorities, the Paris-based Eurocontrol Experimental Centre and Indra.

Javier Marín has been Managing Director of Regulated Business at Aena SME SA since June 2017.

José Manuel Fernández Bosch


He holds a degree in telecommunications engineering from the Technical University of Madrid and an MBA from IESE.

Before joining Aena, he was a partner in the Madrid office of The Boston Consulting Group, where he was in charge of Media Technology and Telecommunications for Spain and Portugal. Before joining BCG in 2000, he worked at Airtel (now Vodafone España) and Andersen Consulting (now Accenture).

From February 2012 to May 2017, he served as director of Commercial Services and Property Management for Aena S.A.

He has been the managing director of Deregulated Business at Aena SME, S.A. since June 2017.

Ángel Luis Sanz Sanz


He holds a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and has also completed a Management Development Programme at ESADE Business School.

Before starting at Aena, he held different management positions in both the public and private sectors.

From November 1994 to February 2002 he worked at Indra Sistemas, S.A., where he was responsible for major maintenance engineering projects, as well as project supervision and control for the Air Force.

In March 2002, he joined Isdefe, S.A., where he has been working up until now, performing various roles such as Project Manager, Procurement Logistics Manager and Cost Engineering Manager, and managing various consultancy and technical assistance projects for the General State Administration and European Institutions.

During his last stage at Isdefe (from October 2012 to present), he was in charge of the Strategic Processes and Consulting Department, where he led important projects related to strategic planning and the improvement of process efficiency, cost analysis, technological and RDI management, public contracting, management of acquisition programmes, logistics, strategic infrastructures and energy security, among others, for the Administration and European Institutions.

He has been Director of the Chairman’s Cabinet, Regulations and Public Policies of Aena SME, S.A. since 30 July 2018.

Juan Carlos Alfonso Rubio


He studied Law at the Autonomous University of Madrid, where he specialised in Regulatory Law. He is State attorney. Additionally, he completed the IESE Hot Top Programme and the ICEX-CECO International Management Programme.

Prior to joining Aena, he held a number of different positions in both the public and private sectors: as a State attorney he had many different responsibilities. He was Secretary of the Board of Directors and Legal Director at Spanish Post Office, Partner in charge of Telecommunications and Public Law area at KPMG Abogados, Legal Director at Sogecable (Spanish main pay Tv), Coordination Director at the Spanish Lotteries, Deputy General Director of Gambling Regulation at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, General Secretary and Board Secretary at ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones, and most recently, General Secretary and Deputy Secretary of the Board of Directors at CESCE.

He has been General Secretary of Aena SME SA since 9th January 2018, and took on Secretary of the Board of Directors on 15th January 2018.

José Leo Vizcaíno


With a degree in Economics from the Autonomous University of Madrid.

He has been the CFO of Aena SME, S.A. since July 2015.

From September 2006 to June 2015 he was CFO of BAA Group, currently Heathrow Airport Holdings, and a member of its Board of Directors. From 2003 to 2006 he was CFO of AMEY plc, a British transportation infrastructure maintenance and facility management company.

Previously, he was General Manager of Ferrovial Telecomunicaciones (1991-2003); CFO and Director of Business Development at AGROMAN (1995-1999); a Consultant, Auditor and Construction and Infrastructure Manager at Arthur Andersen (1983-1995); and an Analyst at the Institute of Economics (1982-1983).

He has been a Main Committee member of the 100 Group of Finance Directors, which includes the CFOs and Finance Directors of companies in the FTSE100 and other major corporations in the United Kingdom.

Begoña Gosálvez Mayordomo


She has a degree in Law from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid and in 2005 she completed IESE's Management Development Programme (PDD).

She has extensive experience spanning over twenty years in the field of Human Resources, having performed a variety of roles in this area.

She was Assistant Director of Organisation and Human Resources from 2004 to 2005, and the Director of Organisation and Human Resources of Aena SME, S.A. from September 2005.

Antonio García-Mon Marañés


He graduated in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid, and holds a special degree in European Law awarded by the Université libre de Bruxelles (Institute for European Studies). He has also taken the Management Development Programme at IESE.

He has a strong and extensive background in the legal field. Between 2013 and 2017 he was general secretary and secretary of the Board of Directors of PRISA, and director of the Corporate Legal Department.

His previous positions include his role as director of the Legal Department at Sogecable from 2009, and in 2010 he also took on the position of General Secretary and Secretary of the Board. In 2000 he joined Grupo PRISA as a lawyer to the General Secretariat.

His other roles include deputy director of the Correos Legal Department (1999), founding member of G&J Abogados (1995-1998) and lawyer at Garrigues (1992-1999).

Since 2018 he has held the position of director the Legal Department and Asset Management and deputy secretary of the Board of Directors at Aena SME, S.A.

Roberto Ángel Ramírez García


He holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and a chartered accountant.

Prior to joining us, he spent the bulk of his career at PwC. Having started working for the company in 1998, in 2010 he moved to the Capital Markets and Accounting Advisory Services Department. In this period he acquired extensive experience in auditing, internal control and financial reporting.

From november 2013, he is the Director of Internal Audits of Aena SME, S.A.

María Gómez Rodríguez


She has a degree in Press from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Expert in Economic Information by the Universidad Zaragoza and the Asociación de Periodistas de Información Económica (economic press association), and she holds a Technician degree in Financial Markets from the Instituto de Estudios Bursátiles.

From January to September 2018, she was Digital Communication Manager at Banco Sabadell.

From March 2015 to December 2017, she was responsible for the Social Media & Financial Contents at Banco Sabadell.

From April 2007 to April 2015, she worked as Web and TV editor at
