The new airport
Open to the sky
The entry into operation of the New Terminal Area represents the culmination of the process to transform and modernise Alicante airport, which commenced in 2004 as part of the Plan Levante developed by Aena Aeropuertos. Alicante, a city traditionally turned towards the sea, is opening a new port to the sky, broadening its horizons.
This project, worth 674.47 million euros between 2005 and 2014, is turning Alicante airport into a benchmark for Mediterranean tourist airports and is in keeping with the Ministry of Public Works' firm commitment to socio-economic development in the province of Alicante.
Thanks to this new infrastructure, which completely alters its appearance, the airport will have capacity to handle almost 6,000 passengers an hour and 20 million passengers a year with the necessary levels of safety, efficiency and service quality. More spacious, modern and functional, the airport will also allow users to enjoy impressive views through the wide windows of the new terminal building. Despite its size, the airport guarantees environmental sustainability and integration, in line with Aena Aeropuertos' commitments to ecology, society and urban development in the regions where it operates.
A place where the future becomes reality, and where the natural light of Alicante is ever present.
