Functions
The work involved with automating air traffic control using nine subsystems.
SACTA Subsystems
The complex air traffic control automation system, using other subsystems, performs the following functions:
- Process all the information relating to flight plans.
- Provide traffic planning aid tools.
- Process all the information relating to the radar information received.
- Calculate runways and meteorological maps.
- Analyse the possible calculated route changes, alerting the controller in real time.
- Indicate the current and future meteorological conditions.
- Provide all the aeronautical information needed to control air traffic (air navigation help status and restricted areas for air traffic control).
SACTA Subsystems
- Support
-
The support subsystem consists of a set of processors and off line applications for the generation of adaptation and configuration data of the GEODESYS (Geographical Operation Data System) and for the reduction and exploration of all the data recorded by the PALESTRA system.
- Training and simulation
-
The Training and Dynamic Simulation Subsystem generate air traffic scenarios (GTA), navigation function and manoeuvres (pseudopilot positions), processing and controlling function during the simulation (PCS), and the visual display of the Tower (GIV) with 180º or 360º viewing.
- Information Recorder and Server Subsystem (IRS)
-
The information recorder and server subsystem (IRS) records technical and operational information for future use, online for system records and AFTN messages; and off-line for situation reproduction, tariffs, data analysis, statistics evaluation, and so on.
- MET / AIS
-
The Meteorological and Aeronautical Information Processing Subsystem (MET/AIS) receives, processes and presents the meteorological and aeronautical information for the air control services. Each Spanish control centre is equipped with a local MET/AIS (SILV) subsystem connected to the central system (ICARO XXI).
- Surveillance (SPV)
-
The Surveillance Subsystem (SPV) provides an appropriate environment to support operational functions of the system performing system control and monitoring functions.
- Surveillance Data Handling
-
The multi-department surveillance data handling subsystem (TDVM) processes the signal received from applicable monitoring sensors (radars, multilateration) and exchanges the information with other SACTA subsystems.
- Flight Plan Processing (TPV)
-
The Flight Plan Processing (TPV) Sub-system is semi-distributed and inter-operational. It is formed by Central Flight Plan Processing (TCPV) and one or various Local Flight Plan Handlings (TLPV), according to each area of responsibility.
- Sector Control Unit (UCS)
-
The sector control unit (UCS) is used to interface the controller with the SACTA system.
